Chelsea are reportedly interesting in signing Steaua Bucharest winger Nicolae Stanciu.
According to Daily Mirror, The Blues’ newly-appointed manager Antonio Conte is keen on bringing in a new attacking midfielder to the Stamford Bridge this summer and has identified the 23-year-old Romania international as his top target.
Stanciu, who is primarily a central attacking midfielder but can also play as a winger, penned a five-year extension deal with Bucharest just in February this year.
Mirror understands that he would only cost the Blues ÂŁ6million.
Stanciu has also attracted interest from a host of other European clubs after registering 14 goals and 11 assists for Bucharest in all competitions last season.
Last week, he claimed a brace to help Bucharest beat Sparta Prague 2-0 in a Champions League qualifier tie.
Overall, he has scored 31 goals for Bucharest in 129 appearances since joining the Liga I club in 2013 from Liga IV side Vaslui, where he made 43 appearances in two seasons.
He previously spent seven years at Liga IV side Unirea Alba Iulia.
Stanciu has also scored four goals in seven appearances for Romania since his debut in March this year. He also represented his country at under-19 and under-21 levels.
