Leeds United Weighing Up Move for High-Profile Defender

Despite having wrapped up seven new signings this summer, Garry Monk is still on the hunt for experienced players, and Nottingham Forest defender Jack Hobbs is the latest name appearing on his radar at the moment.

According to the YEP, Leeds United have submitted an enquiry for the 27-year-old English defender known for his energetic play and excellent timing of a tackle. The former U19 England international has a great experience to play with the Championship clubs. Before arriving at the City Ground in 2014; Hobbs enjoyed astonishing spells with the likes of Hull City, Liverpool and current Premier League champions Leicester City.

With Hobbs’ existing contract running until 2018, the deal could be a tricky one to conclude for Leeds.

The departure of Scott Wootton and Giuseppe Bellusci has left the United boss with fewer options in the centre of defence so he is understandably desperate to bring in a quality defender to the Elland Road before the start of new season. Earlier this summer, LUFC were close to signing Swedish defender Joel Ekstrand, but the deal fell apart due to the player’s fitness concerns.

The Peacocks have made seven signings so far this summer including the massive loan signing of Spanish winger Pablo Hernandez from Qatari side Al Arabi.

Leeds United are also negotiating a deal with Premier League club Sunderland to seal the signature of former loan signing Liam Briductt. The prized midfielder had a successful loan spell at the Elland Road last season.
