With the transfer deadline day fast approaching, Premier League teams will be keen on salvaging as many deals as they can, although a couple of teams have been somewhat quiet all through the window.
The lack of transfer activity may be caused by the contempt nature of many Premier League clubs this season, but we take a look at the top three teams who need to sign a marquee player to enjoy a successful campaign.
1. Leicester City
There’s no doubt that we’ve all been left in awe of Leicester City’s impressed performances this season as the League’s surprise package currently sit on top of the table.
They look primed to lift the trophy this year or, at least, finish within the top four in a season plagued by uncertainty due to the uprising of some unexpected teams.
They haven’t really been busy in this window as they’ve only set their sights on relatively unknown players.
But to keep their movement going Leicester will need to sign at least one Marquee player before the window shuts – they are reportedly in the market for Ahmed Musa, but they’ll need to secure his services before the end of the January window.
2. Manchester United
To say Manchester United have been below par this season would be a massive understatement; they’ve played some of the worst football in the League this term and that can be accredited to LVG’s unorthodox style of play as well as the impotence of the squad at his disposal.
In the build up to the window LVG expressed his desire to bring in fast and technically gifted players, but to no avail as they’ve been unable to make any solid signings.
Deal’s for the likes of Lucas Moura, and Felipe Anderson has fallen through in the past few weeks, but LVG is expected to make one final push to bring in the marquee player that would serve as United’s catalyst.
3. Arsenal
Arsenal have already made some signings in this window although they’ve all been youth players.
Arsene Wenger is looking to make a viable title challenge this season but to do that he’ll need some substantial reinforcements which would help carry the team on even when mid-season fatigue kicks in.
With the January transfer window set to close in a day, all three clubs should look to salvage what they can in an attempt to perform well in the league.
